The JV wrestling team had a great night in their first night of wrestling live matches against an opponent.  The whole team wrestled well even if their matches did not go their way.  Notable performances include:

Pierce Meza demonstrated the power of mindset after losing his first match and realizing "he wasn't ready to compete".  A totally new Pierce walked to mat center for his second match and he pinned his opponent in the first period going 1-1 on the day.

Harcout Masi recorded his first fall as a Tiger, and although he lost his other two matches, during those he showed a lot of solid technique and discovered that the ankle pick is his shot. Harcout went 1-2 on the day.

Carter Vining also had a bounce back match, pinning his second opponent with a solid half nelson. Carter went 1-1 on the day

Henry "I'll wrestle anybody" Dixon learned that his fearless attitude can't make up for conditioning in his first match, and was able to stick his second opponent going 1-1 on the day.

Timmy Garza wrestled a great match that went the full distance and he was able to score more points than his opponent, winning his only match of the day 16-12.

While the guys below did not record a win on their first day of competitive wrestling, they should be commended for the hard work they've been putting in and their determination to keep getting better.

Lukas Kirschner - joined late and wrestled great considering he's weeks behind his teammates

Sam Benson wrestled two really great matches, one of which he barely lost by points 6-3.

Georg Van Clief was aggressive in his match and took multiple shots.

Sam Hyland wrestled great but got caught on his back before getting pinned.

Henry Waller deserves a shout out for jumping at the opportunity to get an exhibition match at last weeks' varsity match (not against varsity wrestler) and that experience showed up during our match. This Tuesday he wrestled hard but went 0-2 on the night.

John Payne struggled to get his offense going but demonstrated that he can punish his opponents with his sprawl. John went 0-2 on the night.

Steve Agasino was aggressive against a really tough opponent and showed a lot of promise. Steve went 0-2 on the night.
