Remote Teaching and Learning Resources

Information on this page pertains to library services during Woodberry’s period of remote teaching and learning.  Here are some changes that are planned, with the understanding that as the situation evolves, there may be further changes.

William H. White, Jr. Library, and Library Services
The William H. White, Jr. Library is committed to continuing our support of the community’s research, learning, and teaching endeavors. As all classes have moved to remote status, our goal is to maximize the electronic accessibility of our resources and provide virtual research and digital learning support.

Research Help
Research assistance will be available from Mrs. Warmack via email and scheduled phone consultations.  We plan to begin providing chat features which will expand these offerings.

You will find William
H. White, Jr. Library Remote Access Resources site linked through Canvas (see the Canvas menu bar and click the "Library" link) which will guide you to a wide array of services and resources to support your learning while you are off-campus.  We have ensured remote login access where this is an option for online databases and subscription services as well as standardized the login credentials for these services. You will find a page with online databases and login credentials on the WHW Jr. Remote Access site.

If you need access to books or other materials that you do not see in electronic format, please
contact Mrs. Warmack. She may be able to purchase electronic copies.

Due Dates
Don't worry about due dates: the due date for all materials currently checked out has been changed to 9/7/2020.  Enjoy your library materials and do not worry about returning them at this time!

Interlibrary Loans
We will continue to provide interlibrary loans (ILL), making every effort to obtain articles for you through ILL that are not available in the WHW Jr. Library collections. The ILL form is available on the WHW Jr. Remote Access site.  Students, faculty, and staff who will need an entire book should contact Mrs. Warmack, and she’ll look into purchasing an electronic copy of the book that you need or identifying electronic alternatives.

Thank you for your patience as we work to realign our services. More information will be posted here as it becomes available.

Take good care and be well!

Woodberry's William H. White, Jr. Library moved to a new home in the summer of 2017. The library's new space, the Reynolds Family Learning Commons, was the school's dining hall for more than a century. Moving the library allowed Woodberry to create a modern learning commons that contains the resources needed for boys in their education. It also brought the library back to its original home inside the Walker Building, Woodberry's oldest and most important academic building and largest dormitory.
Woodberry Forest admits students of any race, color, sexual orientation, disability, religious belief, and national or ethnic origin to all of the rights, privileges, programs, and activities generally accorded or made available to students at the school. It does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, sexual orientation, disability, religious belief, or national or ethnic origin in the administration of its educational policies, admissions policies, scholarship and loan programs, and athletic or other school-administered programs. The school is authorized under federal law to enroll nonimmigrant students.
